Global News, Incidents and Events

• Residents of 5 neighbourhoods in Bogota protested in front of sports centres planned to be used to house homeless individuals needing to isolate. – Source, Source
• Teenagers assault Asian woman on the bus in the Highbridge, The Bronx, USA. Police are searching for the suspect who reportedly hit an Asian woman in the head with an umbrella on an MTA bus in The Bronx — while yelling that the woman had “caused the coronavirus.” – Source
• Online scammers claim to raise funds for San Camillo Hospital in Venice, Italy. An illegitimate Facebook page claimed to raise funds for the hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the funds flowed directly into a credit card of one of the perpetrators. – Source
• Angry residents dismantle pre-fabricated COVID-19 isolation centre in Yopougon, Côte d’Ivoire. Residents destroyed the centre at the BAE stadium in the Toit Rouge district. Residents accused authorities of deliberately trying to infect them. – Source
• 2 firefighters wounded by rock-throwing in Yafo, Israel. The firefighter’s vehicle was also damaged. The protests were over restrictions put in place due to COVID-19. – Source
• Walmart security guard, in Sherbrooke, Quebec, was run over and wounded on Saturday by a couple frustrated by COVID-19 measures employed by the store, such as only one person per vehicle can go in the store. The suspect has been arrested. – Source

Government Advice and Restrictions

“The UK has now been on “lockdown” for 3 weeks and the Government as yet have not been able to provide an approximate time when this may end. The UK Government advice remains:

• Stay at home
• Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (but only if you cannot work from home)
• If you go out, stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people at all times
• Wash your hands as soon as you get home
• Do not meet others, even friends or family. You can spread the virus even if you don’t have symptoms.”

• Ambulance likely torched in Flash Lane, Stoke-on-Trent in the United Kingdom. An investigation has been launched after an ambulance was destroyed in a fire while paramedics were inside a house nearby treating a patient. – Source
• 5G telecommunications tower torched in Liverpool, UK. The mast had been set alight in a probable arson attack near a Tesco Metro store on Aigburth Road, Dingle – Source

• Paramilitaries issue threats during COVID-19 pandemic across Northern Ireland – Source
• Police officers deliberately coughed on in Goole, Hull – Source
